Rules of Thumb for Buying Blended Wines

The Guigal 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Rouge was selected as the “wine of the week” in the Napa Valley Register story, “Dan Berger On Wine: Rules of thumb for buying blended wines.” Wine columnist Dan Berger described the 2015 vintage as “simply remarkable.” He also noted “plum, dark berries, earth spices, and surprising intensity for a normally modest region.” Dan suggested to readers this wine “will be better in 3-6 more years, but I defy anyone tasting it to wait. It’s delicious.” The story gives great insight as to why varietal specific wines are often deemed “better” than their blended counterparts and also elaborates on what to look out for when selecting a blend.
